Black Hills (»schwarze Hügel«), Gebirge in Süddakota und Wyoming, zwischen 43°30'–45° nördl. Br. und 103°–105° westl. L., im Harney Peak 2350 m. Goldfunde (1874) führten zu seiner raschen Ausschließung und zur Entstehung zahlreicher, durch Eisenbahnen zugänglicher Ortschaften (Deadwood, Whitewood, Hayward, Hermosa, Buffalo Gap, Rapid City, Hot Springs). Auch Blei, Kohle, Eisen, Salz und Petroleum sind vorhanden.
