Chrysarobīn (Ararobin, Goa- oder Bahiapulver) C15H12O3, die gereinigte, in Höhlungen der Stämme von Andira Araroba ausgeschiedene Masse, ein gelbes, leichtes, kristallinisches Pulver, das, mit 2000 Teilen Wasser gekocht, eine braunrötliche, geschmacklose Flüssigkeit liefert. Beim Ausziehen mit Benzol erhält man gelbe Nadeln oder Blättchen, die sich in Benzol, Chloroform, Eisessig, schwer in Alkohol und Äther, kaum in Wasser lösen und sublimieren. In alkalischer Lösung (auch im Organismus) oxydiert sich C. leicht zu Chrysophansäure. Bei Reduktion durch Zinkstaub gibt es Methylanthrazen. C. wirkt brechenerregend und abführend und reizt zugleich Nieren und Blase; äußerlich wird es mit Vorteil bei Hautkrankheiten, namentlich bei Psoriasis und parasitären Leiden, angewendet.
