Cowboy (engl., spr. kau-beu, »Kuhjunge«), Name der Rinderhirten im Westen der Vereinigten Staaten, ausgezeichnete Reiter und Pfadfinder, die ihre wilden Herden mit großer Geschicklichkeit und hohem persönlichen Mut zu hüten und zu behandeln wissen.
