Aiguesmortes (spr. äg-mórt'), Stadt im franz. Depart. Gard, Arrond. Nimes, liegt, von Salzsümpfen umgeben, an einer Zweiglinie der Lyoner Bahn, 4 km vom Mittelländischen Meer (Golf von A.) entfernt, hat mittelalterliche Festungsmauern, ein Standbild Ludwigs des Heiligen und (1901) 4233 Einw., die Sodafabrikation, Fischerei und Handel betreiben. – In A. schiffte sich Ludwig der Heilige 1248 und 1270 zu seinen Kreuzzügen ein; hier hatten Karl V. und Franz 1. 1538 eine Unterredung. Von A. führt der Kanal La Grande Robine als Fortsetzung des Kanals von Beaucaire zum Hafen Grau du Roi mit Seebad. Vgl. Pietro, Histoire d'A. (2. Aufl. 1849); Martins, A. (2.
