Almissa

Almissa (slaw. Omis), Stadt in Dalmatien, Bezirksh. Spalato, an der Mündung der Cetina ins Adriatische Meer (Canale della Brazza) gelegen, hat ein Bezirksgericht, Burgruinen, einen Hafen, Weinbau und (1890) 1038, als Gemeinde (1900) 15,108 serbokroatische Einwohner. Die Umgebung von A. ist die Landschaft Poljica, die bis zum Ende des 18. Jahrh. einen den Venezianern tributären bäuerlichen Freistaat bildete.
