Grind (Schorf), die Kruste, die sich auf der äußern Haut bildet, wenn Eiter oder das Sekret der Talg- etc. Drüsen der Haut an der Luft eintrocknet. Hautkrankheiten. – G. heißt auch eine Krankheit verschiedener Pflanzen, zumal der Kartoffeln, bei denen die Schale der Knollen an einigen Stellen weißliche, später dunkelbraun werdende krustige Häuschen bis zur Große einiger Millimeter aufweist, die von der Schale leicht abzukratzen sind. Diese Körper sind die Dauermycelien (Sklerotien) eines Pilzes (Rhizoctonia Solani), dessen Mycelfäden auf den Kartoffelschalen wuchern. Die betreffenden Knollen sind als Viehfutter oder in Brennereien noch zu gebrauchen. Über G. der Birnbäume s. Fusicladium
