Irōn

Irōn C13H20O findet sich in der Veilchenwurzel, deren Geruch es bedingt, wohl auch in Veilchenblüten, bildet ein leichtes Öl vom spez. Gew. 0,939 bei 20°, siedet unter einem Drucke von 16 mm bei 144°, dreht das polarisierte Licht nach rechts, löst sich leicht in Alkohol und Äther, kaum in Wasser, riecht scharf und erst beim Verdunsten der stark verdünnten alkoholischen Lösung veilchenartig. I. verhält sich wie ein Keton, mit Phenylhydrazin bildet es ein Phenylhydrazon. Bei dem Versuch, es künstlich darzustellen, wurde das Jonon entdeckt.
