Lamond (spr. lämmend), Frédéric, Klavierspieler, geb. 28. Jan. 1868 in Glasgow, bildete sich zuerst unter Leitung seines ältern Bruders zum Orgelspieler aus, wurde 1880 Organist in Laurieston und gab Orgelkonzerte, ging aber 1882 zum Studium der Violine über (unter C. Cooper) und folgte Hugo Heermann als dessen Schüler nach Frankfurt a. M. Dort aber wandte er sich als Schüler Schwarz' am Raff-Konservatorium ganz dem Klavierspiel zu, in dem er sich unter Bülow und Liszt vervollkommte. Daneben trieb er ernste Kompositionsstudien unter Urspruch. L. ist namentlich bedeutend als Beethoven-Interpret. Auch als Komponist trat er mit Achtung gebietenden Werken auf (Ouvertüre »Aus dem schottischen Hochland«, Klaviertrio. Cellosonate, Symphonie A dur, Klavierstücke). Im Juni 1904 vermählte er sich mit der Schauspielerin Irene Triesch.
