CARYÁTIS, ĭdis, Gr. Καρυάτις, ιδος, ein Beynamen der Diana, welchen sie von dem Flecken Karyas in Lakonien hat, als der ihr gewidmet war. Ihre Statüe stund hieselbst unter dem freyen Himmel, und hielten dabey die Jungfern von Lacedämon jährlich ihr besonderes Fest mit Tanzen und andern Lustbarkeiten. Pausan. Lacon. c. 10. p. 178.
