STYMPHALIA, æ, Gr. Στυμφαλία, ας, ein Beynamen der Diana, die ihren Tempel zu Stymphalus, in Arkadien, hatte. Ihre Bildsäule war nur von Holze gemacht, doch aber meist übergüldet, wogegen an der Decke des Tempels zum Andenken einige von den stymphalischen Raubvögeln hiengen. Man konnte aber von unten nicht erkennen, ob sie von Holze, oder Gypse gemachet waren. Paus. Arc. c. 22. p. 488.
