Barcelonette (spr. Bars'lonett), 1) Bezirk im Departement der Nieder-Alpen; sonst kleine Landschaft in der Dauphiné, Alpenthäler, einst zu Savoyen gehörig, im Frieden von Utrecht an Frankreich abgetreten, 1760 zwar zurückgegeben, aber bei der Revolution von Nenem von den Franzosen in Besitz genommen; 22 QM., 26,000 Ew.; 2) Hauptort dieses Districts, vom Grafen Raimund von Provence (eigentlich von Barcelona, woher der Name), 1223 erbaut, liegt an der Grenze von Savoyen auf den Alpen 3700 F. hoch; hat Tribunal, Gymnasium, Normalschule, Tuchweberei, Seidenraupenzucht; 2000 Ew.
