Bodian (Bodianus Bl.), Gattung aus der Fischfamilie Barsch; Leib etwas zusammengedrückt, Schuppen zart, Kopf klein u. spitzig, mehrere Reihen zugespitzter Zähne, einfache Rückenflossen; Goldfuß rechnet hierher die Untergattungen: a) Grammistes, mit 3 Stacheln an den Kiemendeckeln; Art: Gr. orientalis, mit unter der Haut verborgenen Schuppen, aus Ostindien; b) Acerina (s.d.); c) Stellifer (Sternträger), Kopf kahl, uneben, Stacheln an den Kiemendeckeln u. Unteraugenhöhlenbogen; Art: St. capensis; d) Bodian (Bodianus, Cephalopholis Schn.), Stacheln nur am hintern Kiemendeckel; Arten: B. guttatus (Perca g.), gelbbraun, mit runden Flecken; B. azuror, sehr bunt; im Indischen Meer.
