Halicōre

Halicōre (H. Ill., Dujong, Seejungfer), Gattung der wallfischartigen Säugethiere, aus der Familie der Seekühe od. Sirenen; Zähne im Alter an. Zahl abnehmend, daher oben 2–4, unten 6–8 Vorder-, keine Eck-, überall 3–5 Backenzähne, Leib sehr dünn behaart, Kopf stumpf mit aufgeschwollenen Lippen, Hals deutlich, Schwanzflosse mondförmig, Armflosse nagellos; der Gemeine Dujung (H. cetacea Ill.), bräunlich, dunkel gefleckt, 7–8 Fuß lang, im Indischen Meere, Fleisch wohlschmeckend.
