Labĭum

Labĭum (lat.), 1) Lippe; L. superius, L. inferius, Ober- u. Unterlippe; L. externum, L. internum, s.u. Gesichtsknochen H) a) dd); Labium leporīnum, Hasenscharte; 2) schmale Ritze bei Orgelpfeifen u. einigen Blasinstrumenten (wie der Flûte à bec, Fûte douce), an welcher sich der Wind schneidet u. den Ton hervorbringt; 3) (Bot.), die Lippe, eine kurze breite Verlängerung eines röhrigen Blüthentheils, namentlich an der Blumenkrone u. dem Kelche der Rachenblüthen. Man unterscheidet an ihnen die Oberlippe (Labium superius) u. die Unterlippe (Lab. inferius), letztere gewöhnlich dreilappig, erstere helmartig.
