Portulāca

Portulāca, Pflanzengattung aus der Familie der Portulaceae-Sesuvieae, 11. Kl. 1. Ordn. L. Bekannteste Art: P. oleracea (Portulak), mit glatten, saftigen, keilförmigen Blättern, winkelständigen Blumen, häufig als Suppen-, Gemüse- u. Salatkraut in der Küche benutzt u. deshalb cultivirt, sonst officinell u. gegen Scorbut empfohlen. Außereuropäische, bei uns im Freien aushaltende sind u.a. P. foliosa aus Guinea, P. guinensis aus Guinea, P. halimoides aus Jamaica, P. meridiana aus Ostindien, P. parvifolia aus [401] Jamaica, P. quadrifida aus Ägypten, P. grandiflora von Chile.
