Pyrgi (Pyrgoi), 1) Stadt im eleischen Triphylia; lag ziemlich auf der Grenze von Messenien; 2) befestigte Stadt in Etrurien, Hafen von Cäre; die Weiber waren als Hetären, die Männer als Seeräuber berüchtigt; die Einw. trieben starken Fischfang; hier stand der reiche Tempel der Ilithyia (nach And. der Leukothea), welchen der Syrakusanerkönig Dionysios 384 v. Chr. plünderte; Ruinen ihrer kyklopischen Mauern mit Thürmen, sowie des Tempels u. uralte Gräber beim j. Dorf S. Severo.
