Quercitron

Quercitron, die gemahlene Rinde der nordamerikanischen Färbereiche (Quercus tinctoria), ein gelbes, zum Gelbfärben benutztes Pulver; es enthält ein eigenthümliches Pigment, das Quercitrin (Quercitrongelb, Rutin, Rutinsäure), ein Glykosid, welches sich auch in den Blättern von Ruta graveolens, in den Kappern, in den Blüthen u. Blättern der Roßkastanie u. im Hopfen findet. Es bildet mikroskopische, chromgelbe, rhombische Krystalle, ist geruchlos, von schwach bitterm Geschmack, leicht löslich in Alkohol, wenig in Wasser, leicht in Alkalien; beim Erhitzen schmilzt es, kann aber nicht sublimirt werden; Eisenchlorid färbt die Lösung dunkelgrün; beim Kochen mit Mineralsäuren zerfällt es in Zucker u. Quercetin, ein citrongelbes, krystallinisches Pulver ohne Geruch u. Geschmack, löst sich in heißem Wasser sehr wenig, leicht in Alkohol u. Essigsäure; mit Eisenchlorid gibt es ebenfalls eine grüne Lösung. Wenn Quercetin mit concontrirter Kalilauge eingedampft u. dann erhitzt wird, so zerlegt es sich in Phoroglucin u. Quercetinsäure; letztere krystallisirt in seinen Nadeln, deren Lösungen, selbst bei starker Verdünnung, durch Alkalien gelb u. dann an der Luft carminroth werden.
