Fibroin

Fibroin C15H23N5O6, der stickstoffhaltige Körper (albuminoide Substanz) der Seide.

Wenig löslich in heißem Wasser, löst sich in organischen Säuren, aber auch in kalter konzentrierter Salzsäure. Die Lösung in Salzsäure färbt sich beim Erwärmen violett. Beim Kochen mit Schwefelsäure (1 : 5) löst es sich auf und bildet nach einiger Zeit neben einer alkalische Kupferlösung reduzierenden Substanz Tyrosin, Leucin und Glykokoll. Fibroin fand sich auch in Spinnenfäden (Schloßberger).
