Palmas (Flamenco)

Palmas bezeichnet im Flamenco das rhythmische Klatschen mit den Händen. Man unterscheidet dabei zwischen dem lauter und heller klingenden Ton (Palmas Fuertes, auch Palmas claras oder Palmas agudas), wenn man mit den Fingern der einen Hand in den Handteller der anderen Hand schlägt und dem dumpfer und zurückhaltender klingenden Ton (Palmas Sordas), den man durch das Schlagen der beiden Handflächen gegeneinander erzeugen kann.

Mehrere Palmeros (so nennt man die Musiker eines Flamenco-Ensembles, die beim gemeinsamen Musizieren den Rhythmus mit dem Klatschen der Hände erzeugen) schaffen durch die Kombination verschiedener Rhythmusvariationen äußerst komplexe Klangbilder.

Sehr traditionell orientierte Flamenco-Ensembles verzichten manchmal auf weitere Percussionsinstumente und setzten lieber mehrere Palmeros ein.
