Atemporal

Atemporal

Atemporalität ist die Eigenschaft eines grammatischen Tempus, allgemeingültige Sachverhalte darstellen zu können, auch wenn diese nicht in dem zeitlichen Kontext stehen, für den dieses Tempus eigentlich gedacht ist. Dies trifft insbesondere auf das Gegenwartstempus (Präsens) zu, da dieses auch allgemeine und zeitlose Sachverhalte darstellen kann. Ein Beispiel hierfür ist der Satz „Im Westen geht die Sonne unter“, in dem die Gegenwartsform verwendet wird, obwohl diese Aussage auch schon in der Vergangenheit zutraf und auch in der Zukunft zutreffen wird. Man spricht hierbei von einer generellen (atemporalen) Gegenwart.
