Avi Shlaim

Avi Shlaim (* 31. Oktober 1945 in Bagdad) ist Professor für Internationale Beziehungen an der Universität Oxford.

Leben

Avi Shlaim ist in Bagdad geboren und in Israel aufgewachsen. Er spricht sowohl Hebräisch als auch Arabisch. In der israelischen Armee leistete er 1964 bis 1966 seinen Wehrdienst ab. Shlaim hat Geschichte an der Universität Cambridge und Internationale Beziehungen an der London School of Economics studiert. Nach einer Promotion an der Universität Reading lehrte er dort von 1970 bis 1987 Internationale Beziehungen mit dem Schwerpunkt Europäische Union.^[1][2]

Shlaim, der israelischer und britischer Staatsbürger ist, schreibt regelmäßig für den Guardian und gehört zu den Neuen Israelischen Historikern.
