Rosabeth Moss Kanter

Rosabeth Moss Kanter (* 15. März 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio) ist eine US-amerikanische Soziologin und Professorin für Betriebswirtschaftslehre an der Harvard Business School.

Wirken

Rosabeth Moss Kanter's Hauptforschungsgebiete sind Unternehmensführung, Strategie, Innovation, Veränderungsmanagement und Diversity Management. Von 1989 bis 1992 war sie Mitherausgeberin der Zeitschrift Harvard Business Review.

Kanter erhielt ihren Ph.D. 1967 von der Universität Michigan. In den 1970er Jahren untersuchte sie Positionen und Karriereverläufe von Frauen und Männern in einem amerikanischen Industrieunternehmen. In Men and Women of the Corporation verwendet sie den Begriff token für Angehörige von Minderheiten in Gruppen.[1]

1979 erhielt sie den McKinsey-Award für den Artikel Power Failure in Management Curcuits.[2] Mitte der 1980er Jahre übernahm Kanter als erste Frau einen Stiftungslehrstuhl an der Harvard Business School („Chair of Organizational Behaviour, endowed by the Class of 1960“).[3]

Ihre weiteren wissenschaftlichen Stationen waren die Yale Universität, die Brandeis Universität und die Harvard Law School. Seit 2001 vergeben drei US-amerikanische Forschungseinrichtungen gemeinsam den „Kanter award for Excellence in Work/Family research“.[4] Kanter schreibt die zweiwöchentliche Kolumne „Business of America“ für die Zeitung Miami Herald.

Sie ist verheiratet mit Barry Stein und hat einen Sohn (Matthew Moss Kanter Stein, geb. 1979).
