Als Rostiger Nagel (engl.: Rusty Nail) wird sowohl ein alkoholhaltiger Cocktail als auch ein Schnaps bezeichnet:

  • als Cocktail handelt es sich um eine Mischung aus schottischem Whisky und Drambuie, einem Likör auf Malt-Whisky-Basis mit Honig und Kräutern
  • im deutschen Sprachraum versteht man darunter einen Korn, Tequila oder Kümmel (ein v.a. in Norddeutschland verbreiteter, farbloser Aquavit), der mit Tabasco angereichert wird, und das in regional unterschiedlichen Mischverhältnissen (von „nur einige Spritzer Tabasco“ bis hin zum hälftigen Mix). Insofern steht der Rostige Nagel hier auch eher in einfachen Kneipen als in Bars auf der Getränkekarte.

Der Name Rostiger Nagel rührt von der rostroten Farbe des Getränkes her. Aufgrund seiner Zutaten ist insbesondere der Schnaps äußerst scharf. Deshalb wird das Trinken eines Rostigen Nagels gelegentlich auch als Mutprobe oder zu „Mannbarkeitsritualen“ verwendet.
