SPIE

SPIE und SPIE Europe (voller Name seit 1981: International Society for Optical Engineering) sind zwei gemeinnützige Gesellschaften, die sich „Austausch, Sammlung und Verbreitung von Wissen“ auf dem Gebiet der Optik als Ziel gesetzt haben.

Die SPIE wurde am 1. Juli 1955 in Kalifornien als Society of Photographic Instrumentation Engineers gegründet, woher die heute noch verwendete Abkürzung der Gesellschaften stammt. 1981 wurde der Name in den bis heute gebräuchlichen geändert. Die SPIE hat insgesamt über 16.000 Mitglieder, davon über 4.000 in Europa. Der Hauptsitz ist in Bellingham (Washington); 2001 wurde SPIE Europe in Cardiff, GB, eröffnet.

  • Journal of Electronic Imaging – Schwerpunkt elektronische Bildgebung
  • Journal of Biomedical Optics – erscheint zweimonatlich und behandelt Optik im Gesundheitswesen
  • Journal of Microlithography, Microfabrication and Microsystems – erscheint viermal pro Jahr, Schwerpunkt Elektronik und MEMS
