SS-N-17 Snipe

Die SS-N-17 Snipe war eine U-Boot gestützte ballistische Mittelstreckenrakete (SLBM) aus sowjetischer Produktion. Der GRAU-Index lautet D-11. Der Systemindex der russischen Streitkräfte lautet RSM-45. Die Lenkwaffe trägt die Bezeichnung R-31 oder 3M17.

Entwicklung

Im Jahre 1971 begann man in dem Maschinen-Konstruktionsbüro Makheev mit der Systementwicklung. Die SS-N-17 wurde im Jahr 1980 bei der Sowjetischen Marine eingeführt. Die SS-N-17 war die erste SLBM der Sowjetunion mit Feststoffantrieb. Infolge der völlig unbefriedigenden Leistungen der Lenkwaffe (Reichweite, Nutzlast und Präzision) wurde nur ein U-Boot der Yankee-II-Klasse mit dem System ausgerüstet. Das Boot war mit 16 R-31 bestückt.

Technik

Die SS-N-17 war eine zweistufige Feststoffrakete. Ihre Steuerung erfolgte mittels einer Trägheitsnavigationsplattform. Es wurde eine Präzision (CEP) von 1400 m erreicht. Die Lenkwaffe konnte aus dem aufgetauchten oder aus dem getauchten U-Boot verschossen werden. Erfolgte der Abschuss unter Wasser, wurde die Rakete in einer künstlich erzeugten Kavitationsgasblase an die Wasseroberfläche geschossen. Der Raketenmotor zündete unmittelbar nach dem Durchbruch durch die Wasseroberfläche.

Status

Im Zuge des START 1 Abkommens wurden sämtliche Systeme 1990 ausgemustert. Die letzte SS-N-17 wurde 1995 verschrottet.
