Saltram House ist ein Herrenhaus mit Landschaftspark aus der Zeit von Georg II., in Plympton bei Plymouth in Devon, England, gelegen.

Geschichte

Das heutige Herrenhaus ist das Werk von Robert Adam, der das ursprüngliche Haus im Tudorstil zweimal verändert hat. Der Salon (main drawing room) wird als einer der schönsten unter Adams Interieurs angesehen. Mit seinem ursprünglichen Dekor und der originalen Möblierung gehört Saltram zu einem der am besten erhaltenen Häuser im frühen georgianischen Stil. In der Gemäldesammlung finden sich beispielsweise Werke von Joshua Reynolds und Angelika Kauffmann.

Ursprünglich gehörte Saltram House der Parker-Familie und den Earls of Morley; es ging im Jahr 1957 in den Besitz des National Trust über, der es unter dem Namen Saltram führt.

Sonstiges

Saltram House war im Jahr 1995 einer der Schauplätze des Spielfilms Sinn und Sinnlichkeit von Ang Lee.
