Samuha

Schamucha (Šamuḫa/Šamuḫḫa) ist eine hethitische Stadt und ein wichtiger Kultort der Šawuška im östlichen Anatolien. Die Lage ist immer noch nicht befriedigend geklärt. Es wurden sowohl der obere Halys als auch Kommagene vorgeschlagen. John Garstang lokalisierte die Stadt am oberen Euphrat, zwischen Pingan and Malatya, oder in Malatya (Melidu) selbst. Unter Hattušili II. wurden Götterbilder aus Kizzuwatna nach Šamuḫa gebracht, um sie vor feindlichen Angriffen zu schützen. Daraus schließt Garstang auf eine Nachbarschaft zu Kizzuwatna. Andere Städte in der Nachbarschaft sind Battijariga und Arzija, ebenfalls noch nicht lokalisiert.
