Unter der Bezeichnung Shrines of Europe schlossen sich im Jahr 1996 insgesamt sechs der bedeutendsten Marienwallfahrsorte Europas zusammen.

Zum Gegenseitigen Erfahrungsaustausch und zur Planung der Weiterentwicklung der einzelnen Wallfahrtsorte treffen sich die Bürgermeister der sechs Wallfahrtsorte jedes Jahr an einem der Mitgliedsorte zu einem Arbeitstreffen.
