T. Carmi

T. Carmi (* 31. Dezember 1925 in New York City als Carmi Charny; † 20. November 1994) war ein israelischer Dichter.

Biografie

Geboren in New York City, wuchs Carmi in einer hebräisch sprechenden Familie auf. Er studierte an der Yeshiva und der Universität von Columbia und übersiedelte 1947 nach Israel. Carmi veröffentlichte eigene Gedichte und übersetzte auch Werke von Shakespeare sowie hebräische Gedichte. An der Jerusalemer Hochschule war er als Professor tätig.
