Region Tabora in Tansania

Die Region Tabora befindet sich im westlichen zentralen Hochland von Tansania und hat ca. 1,7 Millionen Einwohner. Die Region hat eine Fläche von ca. 76.151 km² (also in etwa so groß wie Bayern). Die gleichnamige Hauptstadt Tabora hat ca. 120.000 Einwohner.

Distrikte

Die Region wird in die folgenden sechs Distrikte unterteilt:

  • Urambo
  • Nzega
  • Igunga
  • Tabora Urban
  • Uyui
  • Sikonge

Wirtschaft

Jährlich werden etwa 20.000 Tonnen Tabak angebaut. Das Miombo-Waldgebiet ermöglicht zudem die Gewinnung von Bauholz und Holzkohle sowie Honig und Gummiarabikum.
