The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (Kürzel an der NYSE:HIG), ein Fortune 100-Unternehmen, gehört zu den größten Investment- und Versicherungsgesellschaften der USA mit einem Umsatz von € 18,8 Mrd. ($ 25,9 Mrd.) im Jahr 2007. The Hartford bietet eine Reihe von Anlageprodukten an, sowie Lebensversicherungen, betriebliche Altersvorsorge, Kfz- und Wohngebäudeversicherungen und gewerbliche Schaden- und Unfallversicherungen. Weltweit verfügt die Gesellschaft über Zweigstellen in Japan, Großbritannien, Kanada, Brasilien und Irland.
Im Geschäftsjahr 2008 haben sich die Umsätze von 25.916 Mio. Dollar (2007) auf 9.219 Mio. Dollar (2008) vermindert. Der Gewinn 2007 von 2.949 Mio. Dollar hat sich zu einem Verlust 2008 von 2.749 Mio. Dollar vermindert. [2]
Mai 2009 gibt das Unternehmen bekannt, sich in seinen Geschäftsaktivitäten aus Europa zurückzuziehen. [3]
