Tortilla-Chips mit diversen Dips

Ein Tortilla-Chip ist ein kleines, meist dreieckig geformtes Maismehl-Salzgebäck. Tortilla-Chips ähneln Kartoffelchips, werden aber aus einer Tortilla hergestellt. Diese wird dazu in Dreiecke zerschnitten, die anschließend frittiert werden.

Isst man Tortilla-Chips mit Käse oder Saucen bzw. Dips (bspw. Guacamole), so spricht man von Nachos. Im Ursprungsland Mexiko sind Nachos die zerkleinerten und in Öl gebackenen Tortillas vom Vortag. Die industriell gefertigten, aus den USA stammenden Tortilla-Chips gibt es mittlerweile auch in Mexiko.

Tortilla-Chips sind ein beliebter Snack im Kino.
