Uname

uname (kurz für unix name) ist ein Computerprogramm in Unix und Unix-ähnlichen Betriebssystemen, das den Namen, Versionsnummer und andere Details des Computers und des Betriebssystems ausgibt. Der uname Systemaufruf und das Kommando wurden erstmals in PWB/UNIX implementiert.

Einige Unix-Varianten, zum Beispiel AT&T UNIX System V Release 3.0, enthalten zusätzlich das Programm setname, mit dem die Werte, die uname zurückliefert, geändert werden können.

Die GNU-Version von uname ist in den Paketen "sh-utils" oder "coreutils" enthalten. uname als solches ist nicht als eigenständiges Programmpaket erhältlich.

Beispiele

Auf einem System mit Darwin könnte die Ausgabe des Befehls uname mit dem Befehlszeilenparameter -a so aussehen:

Darwin hostname 9.2.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.0: Tue Feb 5 16:13:22 PST 2008; root:xnu-1228.3.13~1/RELEASE_I386 i386

Die folgende Tabelle enthält Beispiele verschiedener Ausgaben von uname auf mehreren Plattformen. Diese sind lediglich dazu gedacht, einen Überblick über verbreitete Systeme zu geben; tatsächlich ausgegebene Werte hängen von der eingesetzten Hardware, der Betriebssystemversion, Aktualisierungen und anderer Software ab.

Andere Betriebssysteme

In von Microsoft stammenden Betriebssystemen wie zum Beispiel MS-DOS und Microsoft Windows wird das Kommando ver zur Versionsabfrage benutzt.
