United National Party

Die United National Party, kurz UNP (Sinhala: එක්සත් ජාතික පක්ෂය , Eksath Jathika Pakshaya; Tamil: ஐக்கிய தேசியக் கட்சி), ist eine politische Partei in Sri Lanka die am 6. September 1946 von Don Stephan Senanayake gegründet wurde.

Sie wird von Ranil Wickremesinghe geführt und gehört zurzeit zur Opposition.

Bei den letzten Wahlen in Sri Lanka am 2. April 2004 gewann die UNP 37.8% und damit 82 von den 225 Sitzen im Parlament.

Die UNP ist eine demokratische, sozialistische Partei, obwohl sie im Allgemeinen als konservativer betrachtet wird als die Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
