Als Wasted Spark (aus engl. „verschwendeter Funke“) wird eine Zündungsart bei Verbrennungsmotoren bezeichnet, bei der die Zündkerzen in zwei Zylindern gleichzeitig kurz vor dem oberen Totpunkt (OT) zünden, einmal am Ende der Kompression und einmal während der Ausstoßphase. Die zweite Zündung hat keinen Einfluss auf die Motorleistung. Diese Technik ist einfacher als konventionelle Zündungsmethoden und wird meist bei ruhenden Zündungen verwendet.

Außerdem werden einige Ford-Motoren und Motorradmotoren von Honda und Kawasaki damit ausgerüstet. An kleineren Viertakt-Stationärmotoren findet man dieses Prinzip auch häufig, da die auf dem Motorschwungrad befindliche Magnetzündung ohne zusätzliche Kontakte oder Geber an der von außen nicht zugänglichen Nockenwelle auskommt.
