Japanisches Yakult

Yakult (jap. ヤクルト Yakuruto) ist ein probiotisches Getränk auf der Basis von Magermilch und einem speziellen Stamm von Milchsäurebakterien (Lactobacillus casei Shirota).

Entwickelt wurde das Getränk vom japanischen Arzt Minoru Shirota. Sein japanisches Unternehmen K.K. Yakult Honsha (株式会社ヤクルト本社 Kabushiki-gaisha Yakuruto Honsha) besteht seit 1935 und vertreibt das Getränk in 27 Ländern. Das Unternehmen ist außerdem seit 1970 Eigentümer und Namensgeber der Profibaseballmannschaft Tōkyō Yakult Swallows (früher: Yakult Atoms), meistens als Yakult abgekürzt.

Für den europäischen Markt wird Yakult in Almere (Niederlande) hergestellt, wo die Produktionskapazität 10 Millionen Fläschchen pro Woche beträgt.
