Brine

Brine (Aussprache: 'brain) ist eine (beinahe) gesättigte Kochsalzlösung in Wasser.

Bei einer thermischen Meerwasserentsalzungsanlage ist es das im Kreislauf geführte Meerwasser, das mit Temperaturen von bis zu 115°C auf 50% höheren Salzgehalt gegenüber normalem Meerwasser konzentriert wird. Brine ist eine außerordentlich korrosiv wirkende Flüssigkeit, der nur besonders passivierte Werkstoffe widerstehen können.

Weitere Bedeutung

Speziell beim indirekten Grillen und der Zubereitung von Grillhähnchen bezeichnet Brine auch eine Salzlake.
