CCM sind die Initialen der Canada Cycle & Motor Co. Ltd. Das Unternehmen hat zwei Standbeine, einerseits ist CCM als Hersteller von Hockeyartikeln bekannt, andererseits als Hersteller von Fahrrädern. Heute ist CCM der weltgrößte Hersteller von Hockeyartikeln.

Geschichte

CCM wurde im September 1899 in Weston (Ontario), Kanada gegründet. Zuerst konzentrierte sich das Unternehmen auf die Produktion von Fahrrädern. Im Jahr 1905 war der kanadische Fahrradmarkt gesättigt, so begann der Betrieb Schlittschuhe und Zubehör zu fabrizieren.

1937 entwickelte CCM die Marke Tackaberry, benannt nach dem Schuhmacher George Tackaberry. 1905 entwickelte Tackaberry eine neuartige Passform für Schlittschuhe, bei der er den Zehen- und Fersenbereich verstärkte.

Mit der Tochtergesellschaft KOHO entwickelte sich CCM immer mehr zum Hockey-Unternehmen.

Im Juni 2004 wurde CCM mit KOHO in die Firma Reebok integriert. Reebok gehört wiederum seit 2005 zur Adidas Group.
