Erfoud

Erfoud (arabische Schreibweise: أرفود) ist eine Stadt im Osten von Marokko am Rand der Sahara. Die Bevölkerung beträgt bei der Zählung im Jahr 2010 27.038 Einwohner.[1] Die Stadt ist in die Distrikte Hay Salam, Hay Jdid, Hay Ziz, Hay el Bathaa, Hay Annahda, Hay el Hamri unterteilt. Erfoud ist bei Filmmachern als Kulissenstadt sehr beliebt und so wurden dort die Filme „Marschier oder stirb“, „Die Mumie“ und „Prince of Persia: Der Sand der Zeit“ gefilmt. Erfoud liegt an der Ktaoua Formation, die reich ist an Fossilien, besonders an Trilobiten. Sehr häufig wird der Trilobit Flexicalymene ouzregui in Gesteinsbrocken gefunden und an internationale Gesteinshändler oder Touristen verkauft.
