Clavering Ø (deutsch „Clavering-Insel“) ist eine große, unbewohnte Insel vor der Ostküste Grönlands. Administrativ gehörte sie bis Ende 2008 zur Provinz Tunu („Ostgrönland“), seit 2009 zum gemeindefreien Gebiet des Nordost-Grönland-Nationalparks.

Die Insel wurde durch die Deutsche Nordpolarexpedition 1869–1870 unter Carl Koldewey nach Douglas Charles Clavering benannt, einem britischen Polarforscher, der diese Region im Jahr 1823 erforschte.

Geographie

Die Insel liegt nur knapp zwei Kilometer südlich der Halbinsel Wollaston Foreland in der Grönlandsee. Sie ist etwa 58 km lang, bis zu 40 km breit und weist eine Fläche von 1535 km²[1] auf, was sie zur siebtgrößten Insel Grönlands macht. Ihr höchster Punkt wird mit 1604 Metern über dem Meer angegeben.[2]
