Die Cantaloupe-Melone (Cucumis melo var. cantalupensis), auch Cantaloup geschrieben, ist eine Varietät der Zuckermelone (Cucumis melo L.), die botanisch in die Gattung der Gurken (Cucumis) eingeordnet wird. In Deutschland wird auch die Bezeichnung Warzenmelone verwendet.

Ihre Melonenfrucht zeichnet sich durch orangefarbenes Fruchtfleisch und beigefarbene bis hell-braune Schale aus. Cantaloupes haben in der Regel einen Durchmesser zwischen sieben und zwölf Zentimetern.

Ursprung

Die Cantaloupe wurde nach Cantalupo in Sabina nördlich von Rom benannt, einem Adelssitz, wo sie ursprünglich 1700 aus Samen gezogen wurde, die man aus Armenien gebracht hatte. Eine Variante ist die Charentais-Melone, die fast ausschließlich in Frankreich angebaut wird.
