Earl of Iddesleigh, in the County of Devon, ist ein britischer erblicher Adelstitel, der von der Familie Northcote getragen wird. Der Titel gehört zur Peerage of the United Kingdom. Der Titel der Earldom wird "Idsly", der Familienname "Northcut" ausgesprochen.

Stammsitz der Familie ist Hayne bei Exeter in Devon.

Verleihung

Der Titel wurde im Jahre 1885 für den konservativen Politiker Sir Stafford Northcote, 8. Baronet, geschaffen. Dieser hatte verschiedene Regierungsämter innegehabt, unter anderem Chancellor of the Exchequer, First Lord of the Treasury und Außenminister.

Nachgeordneter Titel

Der erste Earl erhielt gleichzeitig den Titel Viscount St Cyres, of Newton Saint Cyres in the County of Devon, verliehen. Dieser Titel, der ebenfalls zur Peerage of the United Kingdom gehört, dient dem jeweiligen Titelerben als Höflichkeitstitel.

Weiterer Titel

Ein Vorfahr des erste Earls, der viele Jahre Mitglied des House of Commons gewesen war, wurde bereits 1641 zum Baronet, of Haynes in the County of Devon, erhoben. Dieser Titel, der zur Baronetage of England gehört, wird neben den vorgenannten Titeln vom jeweiligen Earl geführt.
