Elżbieta Sikora

Elżbieta Sikora (* 20. Oktober 1943 in Lemberg) ist eine polnische Komponistin.

Sikora studierte von 1951 bis 1963 Klavier an der Musikschule ihrer Heimatstadt. Es schloss sich bis 1968 ein Studium als Tontechniker an der Musikakademie in Warschau an. Von 1968 bis 1970 schloss sich ein Studium der elektronischen Musik bei François Bayle und Pierre Schaeffer bei der Groupe de recherches musicales in Paris an. Danach kehrte sie nach Warschau zurück, um Komposition bei Tadeusz Baird und Zbigniew Rudziński zu studieren (Masterabschluss 1977). Von 1981 bis 1984 nahm sie privaten Kompositionsunterricht bei Betsy Jolas und studierte Computermusik am IRCAM und bei John Chowning an der Stanford University. 1973 gründete sie mit Krzysztof Knittel und Wojciech Michniewski die Komponistengruppe KEW:

Beim Komponistenwetbbewerb 1978 in Dresden gewann Sikora mit der Oper Ariadna den zweiten Preis. Beim Wettbewerb für experimentelle Musik in Bourges wurde sie mit ehrenden Erwähnungnen und 2000 mit dem Prix Magisterium ausgezeichnet. Beim Wettbewerb für Komponistinnen in Mannheim 1981 erhielt sie für Guernica den Ersten Preis. Die SACEM zeichnete sie 1994 mit dem Prix Pedagogique und dem Prix Stephane Chapelier-Clergue-Gabriel-Marie aus. 1997 erhielt sie den Verdienstorden der Republik Polen.
