Father Figure ist ein Lied von George Michael aus dem Jahr 1988, das von ihm geschrieben und produziert wurde. Es erschien im Album Faith.

Geschichte

Nach seiner Zeit bei Wham! war dies auch eines der ersten geschriebenen Lieder und auch zuletzt aufgenommenen Songs für das Album Faith.

Ursprünglich war die Pop/Soulballade aus Dance-Song geplant, doch nach einem Versuch dies umzusetzen, hatte die Fassung nicht die gewünschte Qualität erzielt und daraufhin später arbeitete man es um. Die Veröffentlichung fand am 2. Januar 1988 statt.

Musikvideo

Zu Beginn des Musikvideos verlässt ein Modell (gespielt von Tania Harcourt-Cooze) ein Hotel, sie steigt in einem Taxi und dann raucht der Taxifahrer (gespielt von George Michael) eine Zigarette. Während der Fahrt sieht man bis zum Ende in Fadeouts Szenen, die die Sehnsucht des Taxifahrers zum Modell beschreiben.
