Das Gbaja ist ein afrikanisches Wurfmesser. Afrikanische Wurfmesser wurden in verschiedenen Ländern und von verschiedenen Ethnien Afrikas als Kriegs-, Jagd-, Kultur- und Standeswaffe entwickelt und genutzt. Die jeweilige Bezeichnung der Waffe bezieht sich auf eine Ausprägung dieses Waffentyps, die einer bestimmten Ethnie zugeordnet wird.

Beschreibung

  • Das Gbaja (gebogene Form) wird von den Stämmen der Gbaya, Pomo und Bumali benutzt.[1] Seine Gesamtlänge beträgt etwa 70 cm. Es besteht aus einem vierkantigen Eisen. Im Ganzen ist es S-förmig gebogen und am oberen Ende abgerundet oder spitz geschmiedet. Am unteren Ende ist es ebenfalls abgerundet oder auch spitz zugeschmiedet. Etwa in der Mitte ist eine einschneidige messerklingenähnliche Spitze angebracht, die in die entgegengesetzte Seite der Biegung zeigt.
