Ghada Amer (* 1963 in Kairo) ist eine ägyptische Künstlerin.

Leben

Ghada Amer wurde in Kairo geboren und verbrachte dort auch ihre frühe Kindheit. Mit 11 Jahren ging ihre Familie nach Frankreich, wo Amer in Paris und Nizza zur Schule ging. 1989 erwarb sie einen Master of Fine Arts an der École nationale supérieure d’art in Nizza. Amer lebt heute in New York.[1]

Werk

Ghada Amer arbeitet überwiegend mit den Mitteln der Malerei, bezieht aber auch Zeichnung, Bildhauerei, Performance und Installation in ihre Arbeit ein. Ihr zentrales Thema ist die Gleichstellung der Frau und die weibliche Sexualität.[2]
