Caroline in the City ist eine US-amerikanische Sitcom, deren Produktion 1994 begann und 1999 nach der vierten Staffel eingestellt wurde.

In den Hauptrollen spielen unter anderem Lea Thompson als Cartoonistin Caroline Duffy, die Autorin eines gleichnamigen Cartoons, und Malcolm Gets als Colorist Richard Karinsky.

Handlung

Caroline Duffy stellt eine quirlige, aufgeweckte junge Frau dar, die ihr Geld mit dem Zeichnen der Comicserie Caroline in the City verdient, eine Katze namens Salty besitzt und sich in ihren Mitarbeiter Richard verliebt, was auch auf Gegenseitigkeit beruht. Diese Tatsache gestehen sie sich nach drei Jahren ein, zuvor hat Caroline allerdings noch einige Freunde und Richard feiert seine Hochzeit mit der Italienerin Julia (Sofia Milos).

In weiteren Rollen spielen Eric Lutes als Del Cassidy, der anfänglichen Freund Carolines, Amy Pietz, deren gute Freundin und Nachbarin Annie Spadaro und Andy Lauer als Dels rollschuhfahrender Handlanger Charlie.

Die Serie endete mit einem Cliffhanger, der durch das vorzeitige Ende der Serie nie aufgelöst wurde.

Auf Grund von Differenzen zum Thema Nachwuchs trennten sich Richard und Caroline in der Serie. Richard ging nach Rom und erfuhr nur durch Zufall, dass Caroline drauf und dran war, einen alten Schulfreund zu heiraten. Die Serie endet in dem Moment, als Richard während der Hochzeit auf einer Empore in der Kirche erscheint und Caroline zu ihm aufblickt. Eine Auflösung gab es nie.
