Das Center for Constitutional Rights, CCR (dt. Zentrum für Verfassungsrechte) ist eine Non-Profit-Organisation, die sich für die Grund- und Menschenrechte und deren Weiterentwicklung einsetzt. Die Organisation mit Sitz in New York, USA wurde 1966 vom US-amerikanischen Anwalt William Kunstler gegründet.

Grundlage ihrer Arbeit sind die Verfassung der Vereinigten Staaten und die Allgemeine Erklärung der Menschenrechte.

Michael Ratner ist der aktuelle Präsident des CCR

Bekannt wurde CCR vor allem durch seinen Einsatz für die Grundrechte der Gefangenen des US-Internierungslager Camp Delta. Mohammed Al-Qahtani und Majid Khan, sowie einige weitere Gefangene werden von CCR auch vor Gericht vertreten.

Aufsehen erregte eine am 30. November 2004 bei der deutschen Bundesanwaltschaft eingereichte Strafanzeige gegen Donald Rumsfeld wegen Kriegsverbrechen und Verstößen gegen das Völkerrecht.[1] Dem ehemaligen US-Verteidigungsminister Donald Rumsfeld wird darin vorgeworfen, Menschenrechtsverletzungen und Folter an Gefangenen des Abu-Ghuraib-Gefängnisses angeordnet oder zumindest gebilligt zu haben. Die Strafanzeige führte zu Drohungen des Pentagons, dass eine juristische Verfolgung Rumsfelds eine weitere Belastung der Beziehungen zwischen den USA und Deutschland darstellen würde.[2] Generalstaatsanwalt Kay Nehm lehnte die Strafanzeige am 10. Februar 2005 mit der Begründung fehlender Zuständigkeit ab.[3]

In den USA forderte CCR eine Anklage wegen Amtsvergehen gegen den US-Präsidenten George W. Bush.[4]
