Nuvola

Nuvola (von italienisch Nuvola ‚Wolke‘), eine Weiterentwicklung des SKY Themas, ist ein freies Icon-Set von David Vignoni unter der Lizenz LGPL 2.1. Obwohl es ursprünglich für Arbeitsumgebungen wie KDE oder GNOME entworfen wurde, gibt es auch Pakete für Windows und Mac OS X. Die finale Version 1.0 enthält etwa 600 Icons im Format Portable Network Graphics (PNG), es sind aber auch SVG-Versionen verfügbar.

Die Icons, meist farbenfroh gestaltet, enthalten gewöhnliche und leicht erkennbare Objekte, die leicht mit den zugehörigen Anwendungen assoziiert werden können. Die dominierende Farbe ist blau, aber es gibt auch Icons, die eine völlig andere Farbgebung aufweisen.

Anwendungen, die Nuvola benutzen

KDE und GNOME sowie Pidgin und der Amarok-Medienplayer verwenden das Thema. Nuvola ist das voreingestellte Iconset der OpenLab-Distribution. Die Icons von Nuvola werden wegen ihres zum Monobook-Skin passenden Aussehens häufig in der Wikipedia verwendet.
