Blüten des Red Sentinel

Red Sentinel ist ein Zierapfel, der eine Höhe von bis zu sechs Meter erreichen kann.

Der Red Sentinel (auch als roter Weihnachtsapfel bekannt) ist selbstbestäubend und benötigt somit keinen weiteren Apfelbaum in seiner Nähe.

Früchte

Seine Früchte, die – entgegen landläufiger Meinung – essbar und durchaus wohlschmeckend sind, erreichen einen Durchmesser von 2 bis 2,5 cm und tragen eine rote bis orange Färbung. Blütezeit ist von April bis Mai. Erntezeit ist im Oktober.

Der Baum sollte – wenn überhaupt – nur mäßig geschnitten werden.
